01 / The world of Abrek
Abrek is an independent action RPG in the soulslike tradition. Its setting draws on the Caucasus while exploring honor, resistance, identity, and the challenge of uniting divided peoples.
Abrek is a fictional world with an original story, not a recreation of historical events. Its PS2-inspired, stylized low-poly art gives every silhouette a distinct character.
Stone towers above narrow passes. Fortified villages carved into the mountains. A world shaped by the architecture, clothing, and weapons of the Caucasus, with Chechen and broader Vainakh influences.

The story
An ancient civilization has lived deep inside the mountains, sealed away from the outside world for centuries, perhaps millennia. In complete isolation, its people developed a society of their own. Now they have emerged to conquer the surface world and lay it to waste.
To stop them, the protagonist must unite the divided peoples of the surface. He challenges their leaders in battle, proves his worth, and earns their trust. Only then can he bring them together against a common enemy. The story is still in development.
02 / Gameplay direction
Physical combat. Dangerous opponents. A landscape worth discovering. These are the ideas guiding Abrek as its systems take shape.

Mountain settlements, stone towers, and regional clothing and weapons guide the environment and character work.

Different melee styles, character equipment, and progression are being developed. Early firearms and black-powder mechanics are being explored.
A wolf companion and interconnected locations are part of the project direction. Their final form and scope remain in development.
